After a 4 year hiatus Carl Thomas has released his 4th project “Conquer”.
Lately I’ve been hearing people talking about the video of his single “Don’t Kiss Me” f/ Snoop Dogg. I checked it out and fell in love with song cause of it’s old school sound unfortunately the whole project doesn’t even compare.
Yes, I’m talking about Carl Thomas the one who came out in 2000 with the hit song “I Wish” off his debut disc “Emotional” along with “Let’s Talk About it” & “So Much Better” all very soulful projects but with “Conquer” seem like he changed his style in what I would call a “Nu Euro” type of R&B which I’m sure will do exceptionally well in the UK but as for the US I don’t see “Conquer” selling a lot of units.
Out of the 10 songs (I didn’t include the “Don’t Kiss Me” Remix) only 3 songs caught my attention “Round 2”, “Don’t Kiss Me” & “Sweet Love” after listening to “Conquer” again. “Long Distance Love Affair” & “It Is What It Is” began to grow on me. So that’s 5 songs the other 5 songs are lull and dull to me.
To each is own but this project didn’t grasp me upon listening to it but unless you are a “true” Carl Thomas fan would be the only reason I would encourage you to cop it otherwise just settle for the single “Don’t Kiss Me”
