Tony Johnson » Feelin’ Today: Brian Culbertson – Dreams

by Tony Johnson

Keyboardist/Trombonist Brian Culbertson is back with his 13th release “Dreams” that features Stokley from Mint Condition, Vivian Green & Noel Gourdin.

“Dreams” maybe labeled as “Smooth Jazz” but it really can pass off as Contemporary R&B with it’s smooth melodic grooves as you will hear on “Later Tonight”, “No limits” f/ Stokley, “In The City”, “Lights Off” and my favorite “You’re My Music” f/ Noel Gourdin. I felt a few songs on the project were sleepers like “Dreams” & “Madelena”

“Dreams” is a very nice listening project but nothing overly captivating besides the few songs I listed but falls way short of his earlier works like “Secrets”, “Somethin’ Bout Love”, “Nice & Slow” & “It’s On Tonight”.

Although I love the music of Brian Culbertson but this is far from his best.
