Gospel News: Amarillo Minister Delivers Conference Opening Sermon

The Ninth Session of  the Northwest Texas Annual Conference of the Tenth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church began Monday, September 10th. The conference is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel South in Fort Worth, Texas.

Reverend Johnny Ray Mitchell of the Greater Ft. Worth District is the Host Presiding Elder, the Associate Presiding Elder is Reverend Dr. Marshall Hobbs, Sr. of the Paul Quinn District.

The Host Church for the conference is St. James A.M.E.,  Ft. Worth, Reverend Damon Blakeley, Pastor.

Tuesday’s Opening Sermon was delivered by Reverend Phillip Randle, Pastor of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Church, Amarillo.

Reverend Randle recently celebrated his twenty-fourth year as the Pastor of Johson Chapel.

The conference concludes Saturday with the closing by Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie.

Bishop McKenzie is the first  female elected as bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, she also serves as  the national chaplain of Delta Sigma Theta Soriority, Incorporated and granddaughter of Delta founder Vashti Turley Murphy.
