Langston Memorial Church of God in Christ cumulated their celebration of the Twelfth Anniversary for Elder and Mrs. Tom E. Jones, Jr. on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 3:30 P.M.
The Theme for the celebration was: Servants of God Using the Word of God to Encourage and Strengthen God’s People. Malachi 2:6-7; II Timothy 4:1-5; Psalm 119:105
The church was filled with the spirit by a host of guest choirs along with a riveting Mime praise dance by Langston’s own Brother Nathan Price.
The Word of God was delivered by longtime friend of Elder and Mrs. Jones, Superintendent E. B. Demerson of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ. Superintendent Demerson warmed the hearts and brought laughter to Elder and Mrs. Jones as he took a look down Memory Lane and shared stories of how the three first met.
Superintendent Demerson’s message was titled; “What is Your Primary Purpose as a Man of God.” Using the scripture given, Demerson gave three main points for the Primary Purpose as a Man of God:
- Feed the flock ~ with knowledge and understanding
- Oversee their souls ~ help provide them with what’s needed to feed their souls
- Be an example in all things ~ all parts of your life should be of good example
Elder and Mrs. Jones were presented with a money three, and a song by the children of Langston Memorial, along with two gift baskets filled with goodies. The Langston Memorial Congregation also presented them with a beautiful wall hanging of a cross covered with words of spiritual uplifting. And lastly, they received a monetary gift from Langston Memorial, friends, guest churches, pastors, and love ones.
Elder and Mrs. Jones both expressed very heartfelt blessings and thanks to their church and to their Christian friends who helped make this celebration a success.
