The Hands, Feet, and Mouth of God…
by Dr. Chris Lewis
Satan loves it when his attacks against believers lead us to fight with one another. He enjoys it when we get so angry with one another that we unknowingly and sometime intentionally cause discord among the family of God. While we think we are getting even with each other, Satan sees it as him getting even with God. Instead of being the hands, feet, and mouth of God, our fallen nature, in anger, or even payback, leads some to be the hands, feet, and mouth of Satan. Instead of forgiveness, we hold grudges. Instead of turning the other cheek, we attempt to knock the peace and harmony out of one another. Even as Christians, some do more to help the cause of the devil, instead of the cause of Christ. When will those who name Christ as Lord, understand how their actions support and promote evil, instead of God’s kingdom agenda of Salvation, Love, Shalom, and forgiveness? While we are to be girded up for warfare against the wiles of the devil, some become wild in their vengeance against brothers and sisters in Christ. And to add injury to insult, there are some (in the church) who applaud and encourage these efforts; all in the name of self-justification, jealousy and/or envy.
Let us be aware of how Satan uses church members to war against one another. Let us stop allowing the foot to hate the hand, or the hand to despise the eye of the Body of Christ. Let us quit the spiritual disease that desires to ravage the body of Christ. Let us bond together and fight Satan and not each other. It has been said, “If you give a fool an inch, he/she will take a mile.” Let’s not budge another inch in promoting the cause of Satan. But let us go the extra mile with God and one another. Let us do all we can to run the race that God has set before us. Let us love one another as Christ loves us. “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another. If anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do” (Colossians 3:12-13).
Let us refuse to be used as the Hands, Feet, and Mouth of Satan. But rather let’s show the world and the church what it looks like to touch like Jesus touched, walk like Jesus walked, and speak like Jesus spoke. Then If one of our brothers or sisters slip in the dirt, let’s help them to wash in repentance; or as the Apostle Paul wrote,” Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of gentleness, considering yourselves lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” (Galatians 6: 1-3). That’s the manifestation and ministry of the Hands, Feet, and Mouth of God…
Living Cross-eyed in a Cock-eyed World….Shalom!!
